Perfect lodge in a perfect location!
In general: Enjoyed a lovely week in the Highlands staying at Burnside Lodge. If you're looking for good base for exploring Fort William and the surrounding areas, this location is perfect. Lovely welcome by the owner, who lives adjacent to the property although not intrusive. The lodge overlooks a beautiful small burn, lovely to sit on the veranda listening to the bird song and watching the couple of ducks who frequent the burn! Good wi-fi, Sky TV and panel heaters, and a wood burner for chilly days! (didn't use). Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get away to beautiful, peaceful location. Location and surroundings: Situated in small hamlet of Happy Valley (great name!), can see the top of Ben Nevis on clear days from lodge. Great location for exploring the area - easy to reach following places, Ben Nevis and Nevis Range, Aonach Mor (cable carto top), Neptunes Staircase, Glen Coe, Loch Ness, Arisaig, Ardnamurchan. There is a M&S Foodhall and Aldi 5 mins drive away, centre of Fort William a few minutes further. Service: Lodge is homely and cosy, very well equipped for everything you may need. Complimentary tea/coffee/sugar and milk along with fresh flowers in the lounge was a lovely touch. Dining: Lovely well equipped kitchen. Good oven hob/microwave for cooking, all utensils provided. BBQ on veranda (didn't use). Fridge and Freezer, (3 small drawers), small Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer plus additional dryer on veranda for drying. Fort William town centre - Crannog Restaurant overlooking Loch Linnhe, Nevis Bank Inn and Ben Nevis Inn (follow brown signs opposed to Sat nav!) at the base of Ben Nevis. All great food.
